Live Recording on new Apple products?

I love Hi-MD and do not own an iPod. But, I find Apple's iPhone and Touch and new iPods to be very appealing. I have not found any products (mics) out there yet that would enable live recording of music on the latest generation of ipods or the iphone. Does anyone know of anything out there?

The iPhone seems to have some potential in this regard due to the fact that the earphones also act as a microphone. But, it does not currently take voice memos.

For the time being, it seems to me that for recording live music (and especially for stealth recording) the RH1 is still the best choice. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance...

There are flash recorders like the Edirol R09 and the Samson Zoom H2. They haven't topped the RH1 as a stealth recorder--both have built-in mics and, according to people who have tried them, their mic preamps are inferior to MD preamps. I don't know about remote controls, track marking and other MD features. But for people not willing to put up with the whole SonicStage rigamarole, the flash recorders are drag-and-drop.

On reflection, you're probably right about live recording. I don't think theres any solution better than a HiMD at the price. Really Sony's missing a trick not promoting the HiMD for recording. Especially with all the sources now available.

One of the very first results from Google.
