The Tascam DR-1 is a nifty looking Flash-memory based digital recorder that sports line and mic inputs as well as built-in microphones and records in stereo or mono .wav (up to 48khz/24bit) or .mp3 file formats (from 32kbps to 320kbps cbr) on SD and SDHC cards (the latter with capacities to 32GB). Uploading is via drag and drop (either from the unit via USB or from an SD/SDHC card reader). The LiIon battery recharges from AC or USB cable. And, there's a built-in FM radio, metronome, guitar tuner, and many special effects. Sound Professionals is accepting pre-orders for the Tascam DR-1 at $248 [with coupon code "nammdr1"] for the first 50 folks who respond (it will be available at the end of February).

No, nothing. I say that because we're seeing devices which eventually will take over MD's one superior capability: recording and uploading. If only Sony hadn't been such a bunch of poo-poo heads.

Well , I can definately agree with you there

I am getting the DP02CF , because it has optical out on the back so that I can mix directly TO my MD

Update , just got an email , the DP02CF is on its way , I will have it in two days. :P

and all it will cost me is some elbow grease!

Update: the DP02CF is home , and review will be forthcoming in a week or so ( after I thoroughly play with it !!! )

Update : Played with it for about 3 hours , ..... You WILL need a Mic preamp with it ( I guess that all portables or small studios fall into that catagorie)

but other than that , I like it , a full review later ( different post )
