VAIO pocket newbie

Question

Hey guys. I love the internet for message boards such as these. I love my VAIO pocket, I just received it. I have upgraded to Sonicstage 3.4, I have downloaded the updated music transfer as well as the updated firmware. I'm not quite sure what I need to do to install the new firmware though. Also, all my music on my PC is in MP3 format. Before I start loading files onto my VAIO pocket, I want to be able to show the album art for every album and the lyrics for every song. I would also like to group all my music based on genre (ie: punk, hip hop, jazz...etc. etc...)

Do I have to convert my files to ATRAC in order to do this? I tried the search function, but it didn't seem to give any relevant results. Thank you so much in advance!

I don't know about the VAIO Pocket specifically, but yes SS does allow you to use album cover pics for MP3-based albums, I do know that. Also, Genre works for MP3s AFAIK as well.

Just transfer a few MP3 files and see if it works out okay, it should...

In order to support MP3, you HAVE TO update your VAIO pocket to the latest firmware. Without it, the Vaio Pocket can only play Atrac. You can organize your MP3s by genres and assign album arts to each albums using Sonicstage. Once each albums have their assigned cover arts, they will be automatically transferred and displayed on the Vaio pocket.

You can also assign any pictures to a specific album on the Vaio pocket itself.

Hi,

If you want to use the mp3 files directly without conversion you need to tell Sonicstage to NOT convert the files when transferring. Easiest way to change this is to click on the suitcase button on the transfer page (only active when the vaio is connected through the cradle), and changing the setting. Otherwise it will convert the file to an atrac version which can take a while. I should add that when transferring the files it will add a 'wrapper' to the mp3 file giving it an oma extenstion but it does not convert the file.

I have mp3 files and the images/cover art work ok. If you want assign genre then the best way is to probably to do it in Sonicstage then when transferred they will be in genre's.

Thank you so much for your help guys. I'm still don't quite understand how to add album cover art to MP3's. I have done it successfully with ATRAC's, but I don't know how to do it for the MP3's. Do I need to add them to the files somehow? Or do I need to load the picture to the player and assign that to the files? Thank you again, you guys have been tremendously helpful.

I still can't get the album art to show up with my MP3's. I have been transferring the albums with no problem. I have even been going into the properties of the tracks before I transfer them and adding the album art. But, when I transfer them, they're not there.

:(

Could someone PLEASE help me with a step by step or something? This is driving me crazy!!
