Recording directly from guitar?

I was wondering how I would go about this, using a 1/4 to 1/8 adapter I can connect my guitar to my MD. But would I hook it up to the mic or line-in? Also, I have an effects pedal that needs to be added into the equation. Do I still need a pre-amp even with the effects pedal? And what if i was to not use the pedal, would it be different. Some advice and maybe even suitable settings for my effects pedal (Boss OS-2) and RH1 would be awesome. Haha I don't have much experience with recording.

You are not going to like that sound . The sound of an unprocessed pickup is going to nasty and harsh.

If you use an effects processor like the Line 6 Pocket pod , you go from the headphone out of the effect to the line input of the RH1 , and adjust levels accordingly .

Korgs Pandoras Box

or Zoom , or any effector that has headphone out will let you do that , but the quality will vary by processor.

The Korgs sound pretty good for having a Jam box in your guitar case , I used one all the time , and when I was teaching back in the US I would bring it and a Stereo Cable , and just plug into their stereo system instead of dragging an Amp around .

Right now I have the Line 6 Pocket Pod , and it is pretty cool , but price wise , I would take the Korg PXD4
