MusicBringer
Hello folks, I have been setting up my new Win XP Pro SP2 PC and now the time has arrived when I need to install and setup SonicStage.I have found and installed SS4.2.I tried to transfer one of my mp3s to a HiMD, using the method I have always used on all my other PCs.However with this attempt I got an error report. An error occurred while transferring.Transfers are not allowed.Oh dear me, what have I done wrong.I tried a search but failed to find the answer. Honest. What can you suggest, please.I am using a MZ NH1. Edited March 17, 2008 by MusicBringer

MusicBringer
I am not trying to play mp3s on a NH1.NH1 is not an mp3 player.I have used my HiMD for ages, but with SS4.0 on my old PC.I cannot get SS4.0 to install on the new PC.I have therefore installed SS4.2I am trying to transfer an mp3 to HiMD using SS4.2, which means that it converts the mp3 to ATRAC3 132k.I get this wretched error message. That is driving me mad. Guitarfxr, thanks for trying to help.
Strungup
ahhhh , What bit rate is the MP3 file? or sample rate I should say
bobt
what works for me sometimes is to burn a cd of the offending cuts, then use simpleburner to put them onto the MD, some VBR MP3's don't transfer for some reason,Good luck,Bob
raintheory
Try right-clicking the file after importing and converting to Atrac3 that way... Then try to transfer that.At least that will give us an idea of where to go from here,. Edited March 18, 2008 by raintheory
MusicBringer
Try right-clicking the file after importing and converting to Atrac3 that way... Then try to transfer that.At least that will give us an idea of where to go from here,.Hello raintheory, I tried that and got another error message. This one in the image: Guitarfxr, the bit rates are various, some 128, some 320, some vbr, some cbr.Believe me I have tried all sorts.Such as checking "read only" attribute - that's ok.Not sure about codecs installed. As this is a new pc setup do I need to install codecs. If so how?btw I can play mp3s on a variety of players incl SS4.2.... and let me add that using my old pc with ss4.0 together with the same NH1 and HiMD I can transfer anything without problem. I always have been able to transfer my mp3s to my HiMDiscs without difficulty. I have done it for years and on each PC I've owned.I get to this new PC and well, you know how I am feeling....Grrrrrrr! I guess this message of "An error occurred while transferring. Transfers are not allowed." is new and not been seen before. I suppose it is a generic error message, coz it tells you nothing, other than the fact that SS will not behave..!!Where can I get a Full copy of SS4.0 to see if that will work. I thought I had a copy myself but it is the cut down version that needs the (2005) server and that's not working now. Thanks for trying to help me
MusicBringer
Well it's 12 hours and 87 views latter.I guess nobody uses minidisc anymore, or at least nobody who understands this error message: An error occurred while transferring.Transfers are not allowed.Surely somebody has seen it before, I cannot be the first to get this error.Please... raintheory
Another thing to try is to strip the ID3 tags from the mp3 and then try to transfer. It's been a while but I think I recall certain tags tripping SonicStage up.http://www.mp3tag.de/en/Beyond that, perhaps convert the mp3 to WAV and import that...Is it only this particular mp3 giving you trouble or all of them? MusicBringer
Nice try Guitarfxr It don't work "ForbiddenYou don't have permission to access /temp/1/SS40_MDCF.exe on this server.Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.Apache/1.3.41 Server at www.pepperonistavern.com Port 80"
KJ_Palmer
How about using MarcNet's Hi-MD Renderer to convert the mp3's to .oma or .wav and importing them into Sonicstage? They should surely be transferrable to Hi-MD...
