JSP62
JSP62,What did you do with your MZ-R37??Tell us we are curious but sad also I had purchased my frist MD player back in 98-99. I don't remember where I bought it from, but I knew no one else had one. I had the MZ-R37 model and it has served me well through through the years. More recently 2 years ago, maybe 3, it stopped working. I looked and called around to see if I could get an electronics store to fix it, but I got some ungodly price to fix. It was as much as the unit itself if not more from the time I bought it. I cannot remember how or why it did so I went on ebay and bought a new one. I loved my model so much, I just had to get the same one. It worked great then one day the case wouldn't open and the MD was stuck inside. I thought it was a bad MD and recently I bought myself a SERVICE MANUAL to see if I could isolate the problem. Well after taking it all apart, all the internals are very delicate and SMALL. I discovered the problem after a while of inspection. I found that the latch that opens the case was not moving out of the way from the hook on the cover to let it open. Real simple solution and I was happy to have found it. I used my trusty dremel and grinded down the hook on the cover so it would be shorter so the latch could release. See the latch would not move all the way for some reason, but grinding down the hook made enough space for the release. PROBLEM SOLVEDWhen assembling back there were a couple of ribbons that were connected onto the circuit board and they I had to pull out. Putting them back in is a very delicate matter. I ended up snapping 2 of the ribbons. I had to reuse parts and peices from my original one with the new one. But alas, my strong fingers and impatient mood broke my baby! So all I have left is my Sony VP , and MZ-NF610. If I were to see this unit again I shall surely purchase it . . . .(if its cheap enough =) _ Edited March 17, 2006 by JSP62
