I am trying now to transfer my music onto my computer, however my deck will not turn on unless either the AC adapter or the extra battery pack is attached. I have tried leaving it plugged in and switched off for a while, in order to try and charge the strange, rectangular battery which comes with the device, however even this is not working (it doesn't seem to be charging at all).I am wondering what you all might think may be the culprit behind this failure to charge, and what action you think I should take in order to resolve it. My own humble prediction is that perhaps the battery is dead dead, and may need to be replaced, but I really do not use the device too much and I am unfamiliar with how often these batteries die. Strungup Posted April 4, 2008 Report Share Posted April 4, 2008 The Lithiums have a small circuit inside them , when it goes it goes , your batt is dead .you can order them online or thru Batteries Plus, or other dealers , but like all lithiums , it costs a little bit . Does this battery also have a circuit? Also, the problem seems that it may be in the MD unit after all, as when I plug it in and hit "Cancel / Chg" nothing so much as flashes up on the display... is this symptomatic of a dead battery or a malfunctioning device? THIS SUCKS Posted April 7, 2008 Report Share Posted April 7, 2008 even thought the battery is not a lithium ion and there are no circuits in it . if it is completly dead it still may not charge. do you have a digital multi meter. can you measure the voltage across the batter terminals. it should never be 0.0volts if it is that may be why it wont charge.
