graptemys
Hi,I own a Sony MD MZ-N707 Type R MDLP minidisk player. I do live recordings with a microphone. I have noticed over the past few months that there will be delays in the recording, like it stopped for a second or two and then kept on going. DOes anyone recommend using a minidisc cleaner? I have read in some places that it is not recommnded. I notice this during playback.

I notice this during playback.try it with another disc, but very likeky your 707 is wearing out, there is a small ribbon connctor with ver small wires that goes to the record head, and these wires may be starting to deteriorate. You have to be careful at this point, as it will randomly start erasing discs with no warning. If you have a Sony centre near you, you could have them look at it, or alternatively, think of getting up in the MD world, an NH 700 or 800, as well as being Hi-MD will give you the ability to digitally upload recordings made with it, or an RH1 or M200, will upload all your discs.Good luck,Bob
sector001
as a last resort, u can also try your own suggestion, about using the MD lens cleaner...
Strungup
I have used MD lens Cleaners , the main thing is to get a GOOD one , not some off brand you have never heard of .Audio Technica , and a couple others , I have used ( Wet Type ) with a Lens solution with good results . Dry Types of off brands may scratch the lens in a worse case , or just smudge whatever dirt is there making the situation worse , Use a Wet Type cleaner and allow dry time before using the MD I run mine twice , Wet 1rst time , then 3 minutes later while just damp not Wet , I run it again to make sure there are no streaks . once every 6 months or year depending on Climate and environment , or if the MD is stored in a case or not . (Mine almost always are ) Edited May 7, 2008 by Guitarfxr
graptemys
OK I am thinking about upgrading to a NH 700 or 800. Where the heck do you get one? I really don't need a 800. A 700 would be fine. These must be hard to get.
