Question

Fellow ATRACer's

Bought a new A1000 off eBay about a month ago. The player rocks! Connect , even with the latest update....not so much. I'm using SS 3.4, have the 2.01 firmware update but have only ripped CD's so far. Everything cool in terms of transfer to device, SS playback.... I'm ready to start purchasing online and because I'm in Canada, the Connect store is not an option. I want alot of variety so I'm looking at Napster or Yahoo. Both use WMA's and I know Napster's are Windows Media DRM. I'm not sure about Yahoo.

My Questions:

With the latest firmware, my device supports WMA but does it support WMA DRM?

Do I have to find a site with MP3's only? Remember Sony Connect store is a no go. Any other site suggestions.

I assume I have to use the music site's engine to download the song and then import using SS from the hard drive file?

Any and all advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

CANADA

Welcome TO AtracLife!

1.)After upgrading to Firmware 2.01 your walkman will support WMA but not WMA DRM.

2.)If you can find site like allofmp3 .com where you can get non encrypted mp3 files then it is always better .

3.)If i`m able to understand your third question then To import songs in A3000 you will first need to import the mp3 file in SonicStage/Connect ver3.4 then you can easly transfer it to Network walkman.

I was under the impression that allofmp3 was a gray area, you should really point this out.

The site is only legal if you live in russia and the only reason its not entirely illegal out of russia is because of some import law which says you may import a tape to your country for personal use only. The whole fact is that this hinges on the import of a "tape" being extendable to a digital format as well.

Further more, just because I goto america to buy a gun, just because it is a legal good there it doesn't mean I'm allowed to bring it back into the UK with me because in the UK it becomes an illegal good.
