peanut11
I cannot use my Sonic Stage error 00004e2e. I have viewed some posts about this error in this forum but I don't think I have found a solution to my problem yet. When the SonicStage System Information Restore Tool runs, right after i click next at the first screen, there is a pop-up that says Authenticating... Then the window shows an error sign but there is no word that says anything. Like this...I hope someone can help me solve my problem. Thanks
Avrin
Welcome to the Forums! The message should actually say "Cannot connect to the Internet." Make sure the tool is allowed to connect to the Internet (is not included in a firewall stop-list). The actual executable file is called Ojbsir.exe, and is located in the "C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicStage" folder. And I even tried turning off the firewall but it still doesn't work. So what should I do?Thanks anyway. (:
Avrin
Still, it looks to me like the tool is unable to connect to openmg.com to restore the bloody useless DRM keys.Do you have any files in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\OpenMG\restorable" folder? If yes - try copying them to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sony Shared\OpenMG" - this may help to get the keys back without using the tool. sfbp
I just looked at this.... the DRM key is presumably in the hidden folder OpenMG\OMGRIGHT ??There's some pretty complex stuff in there, looks like SS is set up for dynamic update. After having deleted them and trying to run SS, the usual error message was displayed, and the System Information Restore Tool was started, in which I pressed the Cancel button. Copying DAT files from the "restorable" subfolder helped immediately. Two new 4-byte files appeared in the OMGRIGHT folder again. And SS works. sfbp
Presumably the interesting thing is the NAME of the file(s). A bunch of hex digits. Sounds like the 4 bytes might be the private key to that hex string?

What puts stuff into the "restorable" folder, the act of running the SI Restore Tool? Is that why there's nothing there on my system at the momenet? Avrin
Probably it's the SI Restore Tool. Since there's no such folder right after SS installation.
sfbp
Either that or running SI Backup, it just occurred to me.
