Quick question on Voltage Converter

I bought an NH3D and then got me a Sony AC-ES608K AC Adaptor off of eBay (from this shop called 'internet time). Works a charm here in Qatar. It's a universal 100-240v, 50/60Hz with an output of DC 6V at 800mA. Cheap enough, and a sight less bulky than the above offering :)

Anyway, I'm no electrician, so I could be totally off base here...

This is the email I got from the owner of minidisc access when I hit him with the exact same question last March:

Thanks for your email. You'll want to use a 6-volt adapter for your NH3D, since that's what it's rated at. Sony actually made a 6-volt model until only recently. We just did some searching and were unable to find anyone who still carries them for any kind of reasonable price. Unless you stumble across a supplier on the web, you'll need to go with a universal AC adapter. Your best bet is to check out your local Radio Shack. They have a very wide selection of adapters and interchangable plugs that should accommodate your NH3D. Here's an example right here:

Just make sure that the one you get is rated at 6-volts and over 800mA.

When you go to the store, be sure to take your player with you so that you can correctly determine the plug size. They vary on the outside AND inside diameter. Many times the outside of the plug will look right, until you look the opening inside the plug. That's where you can bet messed up.

So no, that AC-E30A at minidisco won't do the job.

Hope that helps.
