bobt
Stay safe old friend, just in case.. Again, thanks for the thoughts, Paloma hit us early this morning as a strong cat 4, again for the third time in 2 months, major damage, a few houses down, fairly major property damage, no power for a few days by the looks of things. We lost part of our roof, and now have a sea view from our porch. Until we get power back I won't be able to post much, conserving power on the blackberryTtfnBob
Christopher
WOW! Sorry to hear about the damage(s). I am very glad that you are safe - please post some pictures if you can, as I always find the aftermath so fascinating to observe. I was keeping an eye on the storm via http://www.caymanislands.ky/hurricane/paloma.aspx, hehe.

ShriDurga
When a typhoon shows up off the coast of Japan, people act like an earthquake is on the way. Having grown up in Miami, I love hurricanes. As kids it was great fun to go surfing in the streets and see what the winds had blown into our neighborhood. Strungup
Maybe to love a Hurricane , is but for your own pleasure , but the Damage it does to others , I would find the enjoyment of that a bit offensive Consider our trades off The lack of thought or compassion in that statement shows a great lack of spiritual wisdom. ShriDurga
I don't recall saying I took pleasure in other's misfortune.
Strungup
When a typhoon shows up off the coast of Japan, people act like an earthquake is on the way. First off this is a statement of sarcastic nature , Insultory , in content , and shows a lack of knowledge. I have a close freind who is a survivor of Kobe , right in the heart of it , everyone around him was dead yet he comes out of it . He doesnt sleep well . Nightmares all the time , The vibrations of a Truck , freeze him . Having grown up in Miami, I love hurricanes. Ok so you Love Hurricanes , guess what ...... only surfers do , just for the waves , but they surf the waves while other lives are being torn apart . As kids it was great fun to go surfing in the streets and see what the winds had blown into our neighborhood.Remains of other peoples Houses and lives ......................With an ID of Shri Durga , And living in Nepal , Tibet etc ,....... I would have expected a bit more of a connection with humanity . And to leave a Comment such as this on a Post where I was wishing a Friend of mine Who's own Voice I have heard .............. Just after the Island he is on gets slammed by a Category 4 hurricane I find it to be out of touch . So drop it here , I have stated my position . it is done . ShriDurga
It's the nature of high wind interacting with unsecured property. I suppose losing a piece of lawn furniture, a ball, or a frond from your favorite palm tree can be experienced as suffering and in that regard I can see that my statement was perhaps insensitive.I assure you I take no pleasure in the suffering of you, your friends, anyone on this board, the Cayman islands, the Americas or the world. Namaste.
Strungup
did you even READ the posts .......... Houses not fronds , Homes , Not lawn chairs , Insensitive ???? " I LOVE Hurricanes " is Like saying to someone who just had their Child blown away , by a semi automatic , " Man I love my Gun , took it out this weekend and shot all day "Read up on the 8 year old who's father let him shoot an Uzi ,......... the recoil kicked back so hard he shot himself in the head , Real Smart Dad Quotes from every news organization around the world talking about the Damage the Hurricane has done to Haiti and other places "I love Hurricanes " wow ,.......... Insensitive ,.......yeah I guess , whatever dude , drop it it's done . you ruined this post with your arrogance and lack of wisdom or Empathy
bobt
Hi again all, for those interested, stormcarib.com has a lot of pictures, you may even see mine as planes and helicopters have been overhead a few times, house behind me was knocked off it's foundation, a 3 story is now ground level. Just got power back, pays to live close to the power plant. No phone line yet, with Cayman Brac being Paloma'd they will get the lions share of repairs first, so it will still be sporadic Blackberry updates and posts. TC I can see shridurgas comment as it was, he didn't offend me, I've done the same in a cat 1 or 2, but it takes a 4 or 5 to really respect what ma nature can do.I really appreciate all the thoughts and will be back when I canBless you allBob
ShriDurga
From AP:Cuban officials declared the recovery phase begun and many of the hundreds of thousands of evacuees started returning home. No storm-related deaths or major injuries were reported. Before hitting Cuba, Paloma raked the Cayman Islands, causing wind damage and flooding in the wealthy British territory, but no deaths.Your analogy is a exaggerated. If you wish the matter to drop, it is also unhelpful.I generally assume people mean no harm, even if they seem provocative or insensitive. Jumping to conclusions often leads to regret. Strungup
Damage is Damage , it requires repair , time and Money , it causes suffering of others .........It is really a shame the the Human species has simply forgotten to care ..................But Welcome to the " You Tube generation " lets blow something up ............................. Chris , My apologies . Just certain things get to me very quickly ,............ like watching a Bull in the China shop Bob , you know what I meant by this post , and that is where it stands ........ it is just a shame that it isnt universal . ShriDurga
Guitarfxr, we've known each other only a few weeks and entirely on the basis of a few posts to this board and an email exchange about a trade. It seems we got along just fine. Now one comment has turned everything upside down. It was not my intention to upset you. I have stated that it was not my intention. That I wish you no ill will, nor your friends, nor anyone anywhere. You said I am not what I first seemed, that a number of messages and other information led you to think of me positively. Is it not possible that you are misinterpreting one message, and that your original impression is correct? Can you let go? Can you see this situation uncolored by anger? Can you perhaps exercise the compassion you lament has so regretably disappeared from this world? (I apologize for posting this to the forums, but Guitarfxr stated in a private message that he would ignore private replies.)
