Hi.

I have an nasty problem with my Sharp IM-DR410H.

I get a bluescreen (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) on each of my three boxes if i try to record songs from a CD on a MD.

(Windows XP Service Pack 3)

It happens with the original software (BeatJam) and with sonicstage 4.3 using apropriate NetMD-driver provided by this forum.

The error seems to occur when the system actually atempts to write in the MD.

Cheers

I had a similar problem a while ago, ended up one of may RAM modules wasn't fully seated, cleaned contacts and reseated chip and all was well.

Good luck

Bob

Thanks for answering.

I dont think i have a hardware problem on my boxes. Remember there are tree of them all AMD Dual-Cores and all show the same behavior.

The only idea i got so far is that the NetMD-drive cannont cope with Multi-processor CPU's.

Andy

Sounds like your driver might not be installed? Not sure what the setup for Sharp is.

Hi Bob.

Driver should be fine. I found one matching here in the download-area of this forum an it looks good in the device manager.

But there is no go. Copying songs from a CD to the MD results in a bluescreen.

(actually that last was to me, not bob, no matter)

Can you write on a disk in ANY way, eg record from linein, or mic, or divide or combine or erase a track?

If not then your write head is dead (well, to be accurate the wire to it broken most likely).

If you can, then I would next need to be clear about what the last thing you had working. Is this unit new to the computers?

Cheers

Ups. Sorry.

Hmmm... So you think it is the MD-Device itself is causing trouble.

I'll try a liniein recording tomorrow.

Solved !! B)

I found an utility which alows control of the cpus.

So as a first try i reduced my Dual-Core to a plain single core.

With this modification i successfully transferred a whole CD to my NetMD-Device.

Maybe this proves helpful for others facing the same problem.

Well done indeed!

Closest I have come is some weird stuff done by Nero when burning DVD's, that failed on a 2CPU machine with 50% processing (ie one of the CPU's was in a loop). Since I had numerous other problems with the same project at the time, I discounted the possibility (though I did think of it). I would be interested in some details, since at some point I may need that too, even if it is for burning DVD's rather than SonicStage. However I bet we will all have nothing except multi-core in a few years and it's clear Sony isn't maintaining Sonic Stage.

It *is* possible Sony've already fixed it and it's only a problem with BeatJam, however. I have no clue.

Hi sfbp.

I did not use BeatJam but SoniscStage 4.3 with the driver fo the Sharp provided by this forum. Like is said i used CPU Control and crippled my Dual-Core to a Single-Core. This was all i did. But older software has numerous problems with multi-core cpu's which os sort of burdensome because i for my part only own Dual-Cores.

Verrry interesting. I would imagine the part that failed (unless it's architectural in SS, which at this juncture I doubt, though am willing to be convinced) is the driver itself, NETMDUSB.SYS. There were certainly lots of revisions, leading me to think that Sony had trouble with this and kept changing it as different types of MD were hooked to the USB port. Certainly it seems that there's a good possibility that the latest driver (for RH1) was not *intended* to work with earlier units, and it certainly seems that earlier drivers are not forwards-compatible either.

We've all seen odd things when SS does something inexplicable to do with NetMD's. I wonder if your solution might be more general.

Uhm. Hard to say without information from Sony about this. But on my boxes is seem to apply.

But wait! If i remember correctly i only got a program exception and not a bluescreen on box three (which has a Socket 939 board, the others have AM2) .

So i re-installed SonicStage and the NedMD-Driver on this box ... and voila ... it works even without switching the box to a single core.

As a preliminary conclusion i can only say it does not work on AM2-boxes using both cores.

Wow, that would be quite some information!

Yes, but 2 boxes arent a sufficient data-base to make a profound statement.

But on all of my boxes since 2003, when i bought my MD-Device, i had several problem with the NetMD software (BeatJam).

On some boxes it worked without a hassle on others i got program-crashes or bluescreens.

Btw, the Net-MD-driver on this forum seems to exactly the same driver as on the BeatJam-CD.

This driver was released in 2003.

The Sharp-Homepage does not offer anything for download except users-manuals.
