Line-in Live Recording with ATRAC3Plus 352kpbs on MZ-RH1

Hi, I'm recording directly from turntable on HI-MD with typical LINE-IN cable. The question is that in my recorder there are only options: PCM (1,4mbps) and HI-SP (256kbps). I checked in manual and seems it's not possible to record at ATRAC 352kbps (fu*k!).

But in SonicStage there are no convert-transfer options when importing my PCM's from HI-MD.

So I need to import PCM from HI-MD, then manually convert every track to ATRAC 352kbps, when delete old PCM track, then move ATRAC3 from 'Optimized' folder to correct folder. This way takes very long. Maybe there are any other simple ways to do this job, thanks.

The only sense of 352kbps Atrac is to have "higher-than-SP" resolution audio material on Hi-MD. If you want to keep the audio on your computer, FLAC is the way to go, or Vorbis for lossy encoding. If you want to have 352kbps on your Hi-MD, download is the only option but you don't have to convert each track manually. You can do that with the transfer settings!

You will probably need a preamp to get the levels high enough to record with, doesn't answer your bitrate question though, but unless it is a pristeen album with wide dynamic range 352 may be overkill

Leave it in PCM I say!

And as Bob says, if you're turntable doesn't have amplification built in, you will need a phono equalizer amplifier to get line level output.

But if it's a cheap turntable with built-in amplification, PCM and even 352kbps is not justified.
