sfbp
I dropped this question on the end of another post a while back, but noone bit.So, now I ask specifically: how good are the HiMD decks at editing? Here's the problem: frequently I end up with "stuff" (as do other people) that I want to trim, or merge, and once it has been through SonicStage, the portables won't touch it, saying it is a downloaded, and therefore potentially commercial, track. However this is purely an arbitrary decision by Sony. In the NetMD world, my MXD-D400 refuses to edit LP2 tracks that came from SonicStage. Take the disk out of the D400, walk over to my JE640 deck, no problem, I can do whatever I want with those tracks. So my question is: are the same kinds of restrictions in force with the Onkyo HiMD decks? Can someone try the following experiment?Download a track at 256K (or PCM if it makes any difference) to a HiMD using USB. Take this disk, and try to edit that track in an Onkyo? Thanks guysStephen

kino170878
Without even looking up the answer I knew it would be a resounding no. You just can't edit Hi-MD discs downloaded through the PC, period. From http://www.sharoma.com/minidisc/reviews.htm -"Upon attempting to edit the disc title manually with the unit, an 'Impossible' message is the result. Very strange indeed. Could it be that titling discs with SonicStage or SimpleBurner causes unforseen problems that the Onkyo deck cannot handle?"Forget Hi-MD, stick with MD and you can do no wrong. I assume you are editing on the PC. Perhaps you have some amazing new technique for solving the disc editing problem which is facing the thread starter?
