Before reading the text, I have to tell you that I am not good at English.

Finally, I got MZ-RH1 today. (the Euro ver.)

I am very pleased with the sound quality.

What I am now upset is that the remote attached to my MZ-RH1 can't show Japanese song name.

I knew before that 38ELK is required in order to show Japanese name.

Now I am seeking for someone in my country that has 38ELK and doesn't have Japanese song.

The problem is that

is the Euro MZ-RH1 compatible with the 38ELK?

I am worrying that Japanese supporting function might not work with the other versions of the MZ-RH1 except the Japan version.

Please notify me.

Thank you

Congratulations on your purchase! The sound quality is phenomenal!

I'm not sure about the remote though.

Hi, welcome to the forums!

It is the 38EL you got with your European model RH1. There is no 38ELK.

The Kanji displaying stick remote is the 35ELK.

Kanji displaying remotes work well with any RH1 / M200. They are all the same internally, except for the headphone volume cap for the European version due to restrictive European regulations, 4.5mW x2 vs. 5mW x2.

I actually have a spare in a box at my parents, that is new an unused for I use my 40ELK remotes only.

You can have it for free if you pay the shipping, and if you're prepared to wait a few weeks that I get back to my parents.

Thank You for your kindness, sir.

But I think that I will exchange the remote with someone in my country.

By the way, this is the first time to hear that there is a 'headphone volume cap'.

Can it be uncapped?

Does the sound quality differ from the other versions' ?

Thank You

Yes it can - see here for details.

Before you do it, read the comments on that thread. Personally I think the improvement is only minimal, so you need to balance that against something bad happening while you are in service mode.

a good set of sensitive headphones will give you more volume and better sound than the very margnal increase with the hack.

And you bought a European RH1?! I can't understand your choice there!

Unless you got an amazing deal on a European RH1, Canadian or Japanese RH1's are cheaper, and have no volume cap!

There are not much choices here.

I got this RH1 from ebay.

Of course, there are many guys selling RH1 but most of them do not send the item to my country.

And in addition, I don't know that there is the 'Volume Cap' with the Europe version.

By the way, thanks to everyone, I have successfully uncapped my RH1.

And I can not perceive of any difference. (?)

Maybe I have to concentrate the listening more because I just have it hacked just now.

Thank You
