eremite
It's been some time since I was last here, I seem to recall a list of portable cd players with optical out. Is it still up somewhere, updated or not? Any availabe new, or suggestions of specific models I might find on Ebay? Thanks,RickPS: My Sharp 702 (still going strong) originally came with a DC adaptor, 5V & 800ma. I've used a number of replacements over the years, anything with the same specs. I just came across a Sony but it's 6V. I'm guessing it should work and won't fry my player. Am I correct? aafuss
My Sony D-NE800 has a headphone jack that can be switched for use as a optical out jack.

Am I correct? My Sony D-E561 has an optical out and I have used it many times without incident. The list you recall is probably this one:http://www.ericwhitney.org/websites/minidiscussion/opt.htmlAs for your Sharp 702, you're lucky that you have one that has not succumbed to the infamous "UTOC Error." I am not sure I would use a 6V adaptor to replace a 5V one, but I'm hardly an expert on that subject. I did once fry a ZIP drive by using a larger adaptor than I should have and have been wary ever since.
Levanel
I still have a Panasonic CD player w/ 40-sec shock memory. Nifty thing also has line-out as well as optical toslink. Been in my storage bin since I acquired a soundcard that does optical in/out..
