TRANSFER HELP

Hi, I've read through some of the other posts, but still can't seem to solve my issue, hoping someone can figure it out. I have a MZ-R500 (kinda old, bought it in 2001), it came with a PC Link USB cable. I decided I wanted to try and transfer some old recordings on to my PC from the MD. When I plugged with USB in, the computer installed the drivers. Then I downloaded SonicStage 4.3. The problem is I have no idea how to access the audio on the MD, to transfer it with SonicStage. My MD is not even showing up in SonicStage, almost like SonicStage cannot recognize it. I'm wondering if version 4.3 doesn't support my MZ-R500, or maybe it has to do with the PC Link. I'm not sure if this is a Hi-MD player or a NetMD. I know people have been saying that NetMD players cannot transfer via USB, but my player came with a PC Link USB cable, so I assume it can transfer. I just don't know how. I just cannot figure out how to pull up the audio on the MD in SonicStage. I hope this forum isn't completely dead, and people with know-how still browse it. Thanks for any help.

Summary: one way USB transfer only with this model. The only model capable of upload is the MZ-RH1, and that only with actual recordings from mic, optical or line in - not for downloaded (USB) tracks.

You can play back your tracks via analogue cable into PC sound card from this unit. Or you can buy a deck with optical out and do the same thing optically into your PC (which will need some way of receiving that signal).

But what you were trying to do simply was not allowed (or allowed for) by Sony.
