chowder
I am a new MZM200 owner as of last week. So far I'm real excited about this HI-MD player and have recorded live music (line out from mixer) and transferred files from an older MD player I had to my Mac. It works, it's smooth and I like it. After surfing this forum I've become aware a remote upgrade may be a wise choice. I'm interested in a remote mostly that I can use to record and change recording levels with. And just to upgrade/backup the remote that originally came with the device. Don't want to stress the jog dial by setting levels on the device. I'd like to be able to take the MZM200 to my weekly music gig to record. My idea is to basically set it up at my house, place it in the case and access it via the remote, so the MZM200 itself never sees the light of day when it's out of my house. I'll just feed the remote through a hole in the bag. I know the RM MC40ELK remote would probably be my ideal choice but it seems new ones are hard to find and are pricey. I'm looking at the RM-MC37LT. I've used the RM-MC37LT in the past because it came with a NETMD player I once owned and I liked it. From what I can tell it is a more robust remote than the one that came with the MZM200. Some questions are I've got if anyone out there has the experience and time to answer are: - Is the RM-MC37LT compatible with an MZM200? - Can I set recording levels with the RM-MC37LT remote? - Are there any alternative remotes I'm not considering? I appreciate any responses. Apparently I'm addicted to MD and refuse to move on to more modern technologies. On the description here http://www.minidisca....com/rm104.html for the RM-MC37LT, the MZM200 is not mentioned as a compatible remote. Yet other ads I've seen for this remote indicate it is compatible with "HI-MD recorders". I can't seem to find a definitive or official answer. I don't care too much if I can use it for AM/FM radio just so long as it works for recording. Thank you!

No - it won't fit because of the radio extra pins - no provision in RH1/M200 2. No (you can't do this regardless, even with the RM-MC38EL that came with it). PLEASE CORRECT ME IF WRONG, I just tried it and cannot see how to do it. 3. RM-MC55ELK. Links to it here (eg from Google) are all broken, though. Not much sign of it around though. Sounds like a neat beast. Wow! I just discovered that the (RM-MC38EL) remote makes track marks if you press PMODE/Rept during microphone recording. Someone asked about this months ago, and noone ever pointed this out. THAT'S AMAZING.... no sign of this in the relevant manual section, at least. Did anyone else know this? Does it work on other recorders too??? (yep, I just checked the MZ-NH700)
chowder
Thank you so much. That is very helpful information. I'll keep an eye out for a Elk 40 somewhere and will check out the 55.
