chorch
Hi people! I was wondering if there is a way that I can transfer the recordings from my MZ-R700 to my MAC, as files. Is there any software capable of reading the MiniDiscs as drives? so I can copy and paste the audio files like WAV ??? Please help me out on this, I need to transfer hours and hours, even days and weeks of audio into my computer and doing it in real time will be very much time consuming. HELP! PS: I don't care what do I need to buy or install, I also have a PC based computer. Just don't tell me I need a new MD set please.
sfbp
Sorry, but you do. The one and only device that helps is the MZ-RH1. No and's if's or but's. It will pay for itself in a day. Welcome to the forums.

But this raises a new question: Will I be able to transfer the music recorded with my MZ-R700 to my computer in a file format? or because it was recorded with this antique MD I will need to save it by recording it in real time? Thanks again.
sfbp
If you recorded it from a microphone, line in, or optical in, you will be able to upload it all (at roughly 10x speed). Since the R700 is not a NetMD unit, you don't have the common problem that you are restricted from re-uploading that which was downloaded to your machine. However any tracks that were created in that way (on a NetMD unit) will not be uploadable. The RH1 is a nice unit, but for the $$$ suggest that you keep it for uploading, and get something second hand for making more Minidiscs. I have a lot of music recorded from my own CDs onto HI-MDs via Sony MZ-NH900. I want to get them into MP3 format (eventually on a MAC), but Sonic Stage rejects efforts to upload because they were "recorded on another computer." Is there software or hardware that will accomplish this?
sfbp
If they're from your own CD's you're best to start with the CD's and compress to MP3. You can go back to the original computer and decrypt all the files, then transfer them to the new machine, but this is a waste of time if you have the CDs.
