0 7seas
we're all waiting for anybody of the admins to post the service manual of the NW-E00x. Than we can unlock the voume which is locked for all European models. correct me if I'm wrong.
0 KJ_Palmer
You could try using the built in normaliser. Also increasing the bands on the custom equaliser should help to boost the volume quite a bit. You need to refer to the on line manuial for details.Using some sensitive earphones (eg. Sennheiser MX550) would also help, since Sonys have a quieter headphone output then the ipods.

0 india99541
Hey guys...bad luck..check this outThank you for your recent enquiry. European standards imposed recently mean that personal audio products now have volume limits set to these products. Since this standard has been introduced all Sony Walkmans have a maximum 100db. The regulation code for this European standard is "EN50332-1*". Unfortunately, there is no firmware available to alter this and we are unable to advise on any modification to the Walkman that will increase the volume output level as Sony United Kingdom Limited as we will not authorise, nor become involved in, any modifications that will change the set specification of a product, for safety reasons. Please note that we cannot condone any modifications that are subsequently carried out and if the modification results in a fault developing, this will invalidate the guarantee. I can only apologise for any disappointment this may cause. Finally, if you need to reply to this e-mail, please quote reference 170313744 in the subject field of your e-mail. With Regards Tanith HooperFor and on behalf ofSony United Kingdom Limitedso this means that walkmans in asian countries may have a higher volume...i updated my nw-e002's firmware and it seems clearer and louder..you could try that.. 0 Ishiyoshi
There's still hope; that's if those codes/keys are available within the NW-E00x's service manual --> read here.*thread merged
0 india99541
Ok...i hope so...will it bring about a big difference though because when u look at it from a physical wiev, its smaller than the ipod nano..as it is im surprised it can produce such good sound from something the size of my usb key! 0 nw_lover
don’t hope too much. there is no indication in the service manual how to unlock the volume limiter :-( (similar to the nw-e100/200/300/400/500 series)

0 Kobazz
Hi, I'm also new here as to atrac devices. Just bought the relativly new nw-e003. The only 2 things I hate about it are the limited volume and the inevitable use of sonicstage. Now, if the service manual doesn't show any solution to the volume problem, isn't it possible to reverse engineer the Lab_2.00.UPG firmware and hack this S.O.A.B. the real way???There must be some people around good in firmware disassembling

0 Kobazz
Thanks for the welcome:) I don't know, but could let's say a petition convince sony to release a volume-limit-free firmware next to the standard one??? It seems that apple has done this with their ipod.
