 I asked the same question several days ago. I don´t understand why Sony hasn´t released the 3.0 firmware for A608. Personally I think the A608 is more HW-powerful than new E00 series. I´m looking for any web information about this, but nobody say anything. It looks like a joke that Sony released the 2.01 for A608 the same day that 3.0 for A1000/3000. The only thing we have is a new horrible flower :clover: screensaver !!!

the a60x players have been discontinued in some places if not all. which means they will no longer sell it. im pretty sure they really dont care if u get AAC or not, cause it's discontinued. as for the other A series (1000, 3000) they are still currently being sold so more care has been given for the satisfaction of the buyer. well this is my opinion, i could be wrong, but i dont see any other reasons why they don't release 3.0 yet.

Ah. Here in BC they still sell it at alot of the Sony stores. Also, you can check out Futureshop or Bestbuy, they carry the NW-A608V.

It may be that the store clerk that told you it was discontinued was thinking about the NW-E507 models. I find that some of them don't really know the specs of what they're selling and can't really provide enough info on items in the store.

Just check sonystyle canada, if it isn't on the site, it has been disontinued. Notice no A3000 anymore only the smaller A1000s, and some E600s on that site, only the new E005s with 2 gigs.

the older E500s, E300 and E100s remain, not sure why, they are obselete.

Hey, at least they sold it in Canada! We never saw the A-series flash players here in the U.S. We still have the bean and the E-507 (Core Model - whatever). The new E-series...no sign of them at all, but ooooooooooh, we are getting the A1200 9 months late when it no longer matters. /sigh

Sony has no clue what to do here in the States. They cannot get past the NEED to be 1st place, when it is obvious that for the foreseeable future Apple owns the U.S. market. Sony could pretty eaisly take 2nd place with a solid and CURRENT line of players (and advertising), but no Sony would rather just dump products that are 1 or 2 generations old on us. Grrrr.
