Maybe, depends on if I really need the Net MD function and how much?

Will it work with Win 7 x64?

I have ASUS Xonar Essence STX and thinking of recording of it instead of optical.

Gonna try that first.

Does anyone know if the atrac encodes of Sound Forge can be added to a ordinary MD?

Preferbly higher than SP/ 292kbps

You can just plug the power in direct to the unit.

If you really need/want the cradle, I can help you with that - but postage from Australia might be a bit.

The N1 was my first Net-MD unit (maybe the first available?)

Great unit, so great I think I have four of them.

You definitely need the dock for this unit if you want to use its Net-MD capabilities. Recording real time through analog or digital optical in will produce fantastic results when using SP (which is 292Kbps versus 132Kbps which is LP2). Even LP2 via analog or optical sounds great but the Type-R DSP makes SP recordings really shine. It's no ES deck mind you but still very clean recordings all the same.

SonicStage will likely be able to import ATRAC recordings made in Sound Stage without issue. If you are looking for SP quality you don't want or need SonicStage, the best bit rate you can transfer using it is 132Kbps LP2 (on a non-HiMD unit), it offers "pseudo" SP which is really just padded LP2, same quality as LP2 not real SP.

I would call the seller out and demand a dock, just for the heck of it; the unit is worth less without it and cannot be used as a Net-MD device without it either ...
