ibn_bilal@yahoo.co.uk
Hi Guys, first post on here, hope you can help. I was introduced to MD's back in 2001 and have used them ever since for recording lectures. People have tried to move me to digital recorders, I have a Tascam DR-07, but the MD recording is miles better. At present I have 3 HI-MD MZ-RH1's (do a lot of recording), ones on it's way out. Now that Sony has stopped making MD recorders, what do I do? I use the Vivanco EM 35 Clip on microphone. I thought about using a Minidisc Deck, I have a MDS-JB940, but how do I connect the vivanco mic to this? I have looked into digital recorders, but I don't want to spend hundreds only to find the sound quality in far inferior to MD. Seen the Sony PCM-D50, but this seems like a outdoor recorder where I don't connect a mic, I would rather use a clip on mic because I feel the quality would be better. Would would you suggest in terms of recorder and mic that will gurantee me the same quality as my MD recordings?
sfbp
You could look at (Sony) ICD-SX712 or PCM-M10 I have both (actually the ICD-SX750 but that's no longer current). These are both sold also through Amazon. To get mic to work at line level you need a "battery box" preamp of some kind.
