sescoscuba
Greetings to all We all know Minidisc.org, browser allows you to see almost all the mds created during the 20-year life of this wonderful musical support. I noticed an absence of some of the latest models, especially of Sharp. Advance that I'm a fan of "Sharp sound", if the "Sony sound" is tonally more accurate, with 4 pole headphone sound is really excellent. We must not forget that these devices are used in the middle of the noise of everyday city life, in my opinion, listening to music outside, Sharp makes better listening. The following photos are a small contribution to the knowledge of the mds produced from Sharp. In this photo we can see from left to right the MD-77 DS Black, MD - DS 504 black, the MD-70 DS red.The 70 was produced in 2003 and was replaced in 2004 by 77, 77 has the frame / button layout identical to the 70,the appearance of the front shell reminiscent of the waves, perhaps in reference to the sound waves, and changes color according to the incidence of the light that hits it. I do not like even though I can not deny a certain charm. In the same year he produced the 504, a cheaper model of 77 with a satin surface that has the features of 70, the control layout is completelydifferent and the feeling of a fragile object. The following year have been sold the last players, the 700 series in two models: DS 700 and DP700. The DP 700 was equipped with a charge stand with built-in speakers. Note the delicacy of the logo Auvi that echoes the color of machine. They are very light and the body is all metal. The front-end design is very similar, the control layout is identical, while the lower edge of the DS 700 is missing the connection to the speakers of charge stand. As you can see, in Sharp's machines, both players both recorders, there is an obsessive repetition of the number 7;Seven is the number always been considered magical, mysterious, in Japan refers to the seven Geni of HappinessSorry for my bad English A good day to allSergio
mdsince93'
Nice retro review Sergio. I think that sharp really upped their design late in the game, and even surpassed sony in terms of pushing new features, such as their innovative docking stations, use of dolby licencing on their premium models and 4 pole earphone separation. Of course there are many fans of their sound also. If you look at sony's portable history, their design philosophy appears to follow a steady pattern from their first models all the way to their last, where as sharp for many years seemed intent on producing bulky models which were more robust but not as aesthetically pleasing especially in terms of size.Perhaps this was partly limited by their larger battery choice, or by market factors in Japan especially. However they really improved their line up within the early 2000's when their design shifted towards slimmer, smaller and sexier units imo. febed01
Hi, do you know some references of 4 poles headphones ? I have a DR-77 but without headphones, so I use my 3 poles. The only 4 poles I can find are for iPhones, so I guess they're no good

Arr-Nine-Hundred
Belissima sescoscuba! I always forget it is not just Sony that make MD gear. I always wanted a black MD70 like this: http://www.minidisc.org/images/sharp_mdds70-b.jpg After trying a few Sony players I found them rather "cheap" but I think Sharp has them beat when it comes to players. I like the "Delta Sigma" logo. The battery life on these look very good: Ridiculously long battery life. Units will play for over 8-days straight on one set of batteries! footmobile
the best thing about Sharps was the old G-shock style remote imo. Never had one or listened to one but always wanted one of those EL remotes to attach to my jacket.
