DerFahrer
So the NetMD recorder I just got a few days ago will strangely only burn the first 3 tracks of any album I try to put on it. I tried burning the whole album, and only the first 3 tracks burned. So here's what else I tried: - Burning one track at a time: no go. - Burning another individual track, like the 7th track, to see if the 3rd track was just a bad MP3 file: no go. - Burning another album: no go. No matter what I try, I can only get the first 3 tracks onto my MD. SonicStage says the other tracks are non-transferrable. To recap, I have a refurb'ed Sony MZ-NF520D MD player/recorder, that I'm hooking up to a Windows 8 laptop through SonicStage 4.3 downloaded from this site. Any ideas? sfbp
First question: Are you absolutely certain that three tracks make it to the disk? I.E., can you take the disk out, turn everything off, insert the disk (preferably into another unit) and see those three tracks? If not, then you are witnessing a mirage of sorts, arising from not having the NetMD driver installed. You will need the "pinned" download in the Drivers section of our downloads here. Or no dice.... If you did all of that already, my apologies.
jim.hoggarth
I second that. Using a known blank disc, transfer just one track, complete the process (you may need to press STOP on the recorder), and disconnect it. Physically removing the media and reinserting won't do any harm. Check that this new track still exists on the disc, and if possible do this on another recorder, player, or deck. The solutions will depend on the outcome of this test. Jim
DerFahrer
Okay, this is getting stranger. Yes, the tracks are making it to the disc, 100% sure. I've played them off the player after the disc has been ejected and reinserted and the unit turned off and turned back on. But get this: I was fiddling with it a bit more tonight, and I can now burn as many tracks as I want to a single MD if I do the following: add a single track to the SonicStage library, burn it, then delete it from the SonicStage library, then do the same thing with each individual track. If I try to do multiple tracks at once, only the first 3 tracks will burn. Weird, huh? Thoughts?
sfbp
Sounds like some weird artifact of the USB buffering then. What kind of Windows? I might expect this from 32 bit XP box running under 64 bit or under MacOS. I have a new external 3.0 usb drive that seems to reset the whole usb subsystem periodically. So some other usb device may mess you up. Are your tracks by any chance on an external usb drive?
jim.hoggarth
Stephen, we can't rule out a busted overwrite head flexible cable. I have seen similar faults when the cable is just about to go and the contact is intermittent. Especially were recording to the start of disc is ok, but part way along it suddenly fails. DerFahrer
Oh, I forgot to mention the MP3 files are sourced from an SD card, not the hard drive. You think that has something to do with it? OS is Windows 8 64-bit.
sfbp
Did you install a driver for NetMD 64-bits?
