earbox
Hey, folks. I have a fair number of very old live recordings on MDs that I'd like to transfer to my computer. They date from between 2000 and 2002, and as such they predate HiMD--they were largely recorded in mono on an old, old recorder (make and model lost to the sands of time). Is there any hack or program available that will allow me to transfer these recordings to my PC via USB on my RH1? Obviously I could play them in via a phono cable, but that's awfully time-consuming. Any suggestions? Thanks.
sfbp
No need for phono cable. Your RH1 will do the job perfectly. Recommend you pick 256kbps (HiSP) as the upload format, this is probably the default, in One thing, make sure you de-protect the resulting files using the File Conversion Tool. If you are running Vista, W7 or W8 64-bits, you will need the 64-bit driver rather than the 32-bit one that comes in the SS package.
Gustav
Hi I have downloaded and installed the latest SonicStage from this forum. Excellent work by the way, especially since Sony has abandoned its customers on this front. Similar to the OP I have about 150hrs of voice recordings, which were made about 14-15 years ago on a Sony MZ-R900 (portable MD recorder). That device no longer works. I am now using an MZ-NH700. The tracks show up in SonicStage, but when I try to transfer them to my library I get the following error: "Unable to transfer the following tracks to My Library because they are recorded by Net MD or another computer". Since the tracks were not recorded by a Net MD or a computer, this makes even less sense than it would if they were. Is there some way around this?? punkrockaddict
The only way around is a MZ-RH1 to upload the Discs. All other Hi-MD units do only upload Hi-MD recordings.. So consider buying a RH1 or do RTT via line in to your PC.. soryr for the bad news
Gustav
Thank you for the quick response Mr Hasselhoff I will have to get to work twith RTT then, because the MZ-RH1s are now selling (or at least being offered) at some ridiculous prices. Someone on eBay is asking for US$4799....there are 66 people watching, but no one offering. Meanwhile, I am quietly hoping that you are wrong and that someone else knows a special trick or two? sfbp
1. Check ebay for sold listings - you will find rh1 is not sooo bad. In Japan they even rent them for people like you. 2. HHB portadisk 500 does the job if you have all SP recordings. 3. The $4799 guy is a standing joke, 66 people wanting to see what happens, 10x too high price. There is no way around the limitation - it is effectively in hardware, for all the difference it makes. The firmware of the units is not upgradeable, and the USB connection is too slow.
