Rich9636
Hello to anyone still here :-) I've come back to this forum to see if there's been any progress (either from Sony, or others creating or modifying software) to the vexed question of being able to get our old-but-treasured recordings off those discs and safely archived? I have 3 types I need to do this for: 1, Non-HiMD discs (dozens of these!) 2, HiMD discs which my NH-600 won't read or play ('format disc error') The titles will show up in Sonicstage 4.2 ultimate, but it can't play or transfer them. 3, HiMD discs (including some which Sony 'retrieved' for me) which sonicstage says were created on another PC and won't transfer, tjhough they play OK in the unit itself. Does anyone know if the new Sonicstage 5 will do any of the above where 4.2 wouldn't? Any hacks or programs which will get around the senseless restriction in (3) above? Many thanks in advance for any help / replies. PS I'd only use the line/analog route for problems 1 & 3 as a last resort as I want to retain as high a quality as possible. sfbp
MZ-RH1 1. You can solve those with a deck that has optical output, without loss of quality. But will be at playback speed! 2. Sounds like an alignment problem. 3. generally arises with music that has been transferred TO the minidisc from some other media. Sony decided that was therefore likely copyrightable material. Rich9636
Thanks sfbp for your response to my earlier question. I couldn't find any option to reply, hence the new topic. I'm assuming from your reply that no solution has been found to the 'falsely identified copyright' bug I referred to? Do you know if Sonicstage 5 is any better in this respect? BTW, every time I log in to this site, I have to reset my password! Cheers, Richard.
sfbp
The symptoms you describe suggest you may have to enable JS for this site at least. We already have the good stuff from V5 included in the download of 'Ultimate II' I'm sorry for my previous short answer, I am simply busy. You will need an MZ-RH1 OR (a deck and a lot of time).
