Using HI-MD without using Sonicstage?

Hello,

I'm tired of Sonicstage. It crashes all the time, it's slow (I tried all versions from 2.0 to 4.0). I was happy using Itunes as my MP3 player/library. Is there any other way to get music from and to my HI-MD without the use of Sonicstage. Is it for instand possible to convert MP3 to Atrac with some audio-convertor software and copy the files to the HI-MD using HI-MD as a diskdrive? I really can't believe that Sony is selling such an instable product.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm starting to regret that I bought a MZ-NH600.

Thanks in advance for any reply,

Wilmar Boer

I don't know why it is crashing but what are your computer specs?

I haven't had a problem with my minidisc player (Since SonicStage 2.0).

The Hi-MD format isn't unstable, just the software isn't the best we all admit that, but its not bad and is pretty stable! :)

goto www.minidisc.org and post of the forums you will get better answers for your problem. Instead of just taking the EASY way out! ;)

Good luck.

Thanks,

I have a Athlon 64 3500+ with MSI mobo, 1024mb ram, windows XP SP2, Radeon 9800 graphics.

I have a MP3 library of about 35 gig. I rarely finish using SS without a system freeze.

Are there specific settings or installation rules that make it more stable?

I don't think its crashing as such! I think you computer might be stuggeling with a library that big! :o

Well how many of these are on CD's? You should import them directly into SonicStage, all others I would add per album (Or group).

but all together might cause problems.

If you have the CD's you can always use MD Simple Burner. A really simple program that works alongside SonicStage (As in you need sonicstage installed to use it).

http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/details.php?file=93 (you will need to signup at forums.minidisc.org to download - but a good idea if you have a minidisc player, they are really good help!)

Edit: If you manage to get everthing into sonicstage's libary try the optimizing the database.

hi,

it's well known that sonicstage can't really handle big library's

If you want a problem free operation, I'd recommend to use sonicstage only for adding music to your HI-MD.

Use WMP11 as a MP3 manager. so to manag and listen your music.

this way you can manage and listen your music without problems and are able to transfer music to your HI-MD without sonicstage freezing. after transfering, just delete the usic out of it's library, and it will be more stable and frezz less times!

greetz

succes ermee he! :)
