NW-HD3 trouble :-(

Hi

I bought my Sony walkman NW-HD3 about a year and a half ago so I have no warranty on it anymore, so i was hoping i could fix this myself.

Recently I turned on my mp3 player, waited for it to load etc etc when the screen froze on the "walkman" screen and begin to beep. It did this until evetually it switched off and i tried again. Same thing happened. I know its not the hold button or anything really obvious.

I've read resetting it would fix this problem, but I dont know where the reset button is!

please help me :-)

Usually the reset button is a small hole on the back of the player which which you activate by poking with a straightened end of a paper clip. Its location should be detailed at the front of your operating manual along with the layout of buttons and features.

If you've lost or misplaced your manual you can obtain one from the Downloads section of the forum.

It that doesn't help then you may have contact Sony as Stuge suggests.

NW-HH3 doesn't have Reset Buttin ,It only has Battery Switch ON/OFF button.

How does it react when connected to a PC? From the sounds of it, it seems like the HDD might have failed

It'll probably cost more to repair than to find another good condition one on eBay and buy that instead (or replace it with another player).

Depending on what really is wrong you could fix it yourself but obviously you need to first figure out what exactly is the issue and second you'd need some skills/knowhow in replacing something like the HDD (if that's the problem).

Well im too young to go on ebay unfortunately lol

My friend took a look at it, as in, took it completely apart. He said the hard drive was damaged and if i replaced it it would be fine.

But I might as well buy a new one lol.

Yeah I was guessing the HDD from the sounds of it. You can sometimes find the HDD cheap on eBay if you look around but LOL that's eBay again...

Another thing you could do would be to try selling it as is for some money for someone else to repair if they wanted or for spare parts. You probably won't get much for it, but it's better than throwing it out...

Mine just froze to, only without the bleeping. I reset by setting the internal battery switch (on the bottom next to hold) to off, and then on again. ot me music back now, yay!!! You using CP4 yet? soooo much better than the first "efforts"!! Have a great christmas, hope ya get the player working again )
