Can I play music downloaded from iTunes on my NWA3000?

Annoyingly, an artist I like has just released a track exclusively on iTunes. If I download this, I will get a protected AAC file.

I did this once before from iTunes, and found I couldn't play the song I bought. Has anyone tried this using firmware v3.0 for the NWA series? I would rather not spend £7.99 on a track that is useless to me.

Thanks

I believe that the only thing you can do is:

  1. Buy the track
  2. Make an Audio CD using iTunes
  3. Rip the CD with SonicStage
  4. Transfer the ripped track to your player using SonicStage

Whilst this process gets the file onto your player, it does involve re-encoding an already encoded source.

Unfortunately, the DRM on files downloaded from iTunes means that they can't be played on non-iPods.

You can download (but have to pay for) a programme on the net called Sound Taxi. It works and strips the DRM from WMA & AAC DRM files without removing the ID tags. I have tried it and it does work. But if you are only doing one song then probably better to do what is stated above and rip to cd etc
