i just wish sony would make players with the outlook of A600/E500s with added colour screen, noise cancelling, and line-in recording, plus memory up to 4 GB or more xD

I understand what you are saying but the cost would be phenomenal and unrealistic to the market. Thus they make players that fit certain needs!

Why? This week I bought a Kingston USB-stick, 1 Gb for €10. A pretty little package, well made, with a green LED and a metal clip etc. SD-cards nowadays are €15,- for 2 Gb.

All retailprices with all the addups already included, so for me it isn't hard to believe that f.i. Apple will soon release 16Gb or even bigger flashDAPs.

Why can't Sony keep up?

Sorry I was referring to features rather than memory capacity,

Sony may sit back and see what the market is doing before leaping in, as it does rapidly change.

Unless some manufacture planning on giving Apple higher capacity flash memory at a below market cost, then this is unlikely for Apple to release such capacity. It can be suggested that a 2Gb flash player will be significantly cheap to make it possible to compare cost flash drives to flash based-DAP. Essentially the difference between the flash drive and flash based-DAP is that it is media player that used flash memory.

In other words: I USB flash drive can not play music, play video, or view pictures.

With 16Gb flash drives sell between 400 to 1250 in American dollars, it is highly unlikely that this will happen this.

Sorry I was referring to features rather than memory capacity,

Joke: Sony has the VGN-UX91NS with 32GB flash memory. You can watch movies, listen to music, view pictures. All for 229,800 Yen.

I'm not sure I agree; there are DAPs that accept memorycards, so even if it would not be the same kind of memory, it is at least possible to use cards for musis playback. Furthermore 8GB Nano's sell here voor €230,- logically 16GB players would cost €460,- max, probably far less.

Prices for flashmemory really felt a long way down the last months, and I'm convinced this will have a big impact on the DAP-market.
