juli_
Every time I import a CD in SS (and get CD info), I'm not able to change the 'composer' until it's in the library. I can change title and genre etc but not composer. So I end up with perhaps 5 or 6 different 'composers' within one album and then I have to manually change each one to the artist (as that's all I want). If I don't change them, I get the composer info on my walkman which I don't want.Any ideas? And has anyone has had any probs with album art? I know how to do it, it's just that sometimes the album art doesn't transfer to the player, even after deleting the album and re-importing and starting over. I've already checked under individual track properties that the album art is there, and it's fine 90% of the time - but sometimes the album art just won't transfer and I wondered if this is an SS quirk/foible
Richard
As regards changing the composer, it can be changed on the CD import window - -just click the composer field once then once again to edit (not quite a double-click, but more like 2 single clicks in succession) - you can then use the down arrow to move down through the other tracks. You can also click the CD info button a second time and let CDDB find the info again and this time it will pop up a dialog box containing all the info it has found. Put a tick in Edit and you can edit this info ie. composer and then when you hit ok it is applied to all tracks. As regards the album art you can also add this manually to tracks and albums. juli_
Thank you Richy - you have saved me hours and hours of changing things manually. What a relief as my heart always sinks when I see a million different 'composers' for the same album.Thank you again!
Richard
Glad to help - what you can also do is once you are in the composer field in the import window hit ctrl-c to copy the composer go down with the cursor and press ctrl-v to paste into the composer field in all other tracks.Furthermore to apply the same composer to all multiple tracks once they are in the library just select the multiple tracks in an album press "alt-enter" or right-click => properties, fill in the composer field and it will be applied to all selected tracks. juli_
Thanks Richy, I've copied and pasted your advice into a word doc so I can refer to it tomorrow. Looking forward to saving hours of my life not manually editing every individual composer

When you click on the individual track properties under the album itself in SS, is the album art showing under each track - not just the album cover in the library, but every single track?I noticed that when I drag and drop album art across, although it shows album art on the album cover in SS, when I click properties, the album art's missing - even though I can see it in the library! So I have to check that first the album art is really 'there' by right-clicking and checking properties for the album while it's in library view (even though I can see it's there!) and I've double and triple-checked each and every track in SS before transferring, and still it's missing! Quite frustrating as it doesn't happen all the time, so there seems to be no reason for it.Why Sony, why??

I can't believe the long complicated route I'd been taking. You have saved me so much time that I have begun to look upon SS more kindly, and that is a miracle.Thank you
juli_
OK - unlucky number 13 double disc. So I imported 'The Wall' discs 1 and 2. I made sure they were both named the same before I imported because I wanted them in one album. But it transferred as 2 discs on the player - not a huge problem as they'll just follow on from each other, but I don't understand why they didn't transfer as one album. In the library, all the tracks are in one album (when I imported and named both discs the same, I got the option to 'add' tracks to the album with the same name ''The Wall',) so I confirmed that and they all went in one album in the library. But they're split on the player. Any ideas why? I know if there are conflicting details, ie., 'THE WALL' and 'tHe waLL' they'll get split, but all the details are the same. Go into the now single album in My Library. You will see there is a column called "CD track #". Even though they are grouped as one album in SS if you imported two 12-track cds you will see the numbering in this column go from 1-12 and 1-12 again. Just edit the cd track no's for the second disc to go from 13-24 for example (so that you have one continuous sequential order).
juli_
richy, I checked the track numbers before transferring. So in the library the tracks are in one album and numbered sequentially, 1-16, but once transferred to the player, they are split into 2 albums, 1-8 disc 1, and 1-8 disc 2.When I click on individual track properties in the player layout - there is no option to change track numbers. I took a screenshot but don't know how to include it in this message
Richard
Not to worry. Here you go. I don't recall if the CD Track column is displayed by default or not. In the screenshot below is an example of an album I did. Previously it was 2 cd's CD 1 was 1-6 and CD 2 was 1-7. I edited the second "cd" to have tracks 7-13. If you don't see the CD Track column right click on one of the black column headers and tick it. Once you can view it you can edit the numbers in here as you did with the composer. Richard
Thanks Richy, here it isOH! It didn't come out, will try againLooking at that doc, it looks pretty much ok to me as the CD Track #'s are in sequence. Can you maybe close down the transfer window so we can see the complete view in My Library. What I would try (making sure you don't have auto transfer settings on) is to delete the 2 albums off the player, go up 1 level in My Library and transfer the one album again to see how it comes out. I'm assuming here that you edited the CD Track # values after you originally transferred the album? Edited June 28, 2007 by richyhu
juli_
This is the view of the library for this album. I don't have any auto-transfer settings activated and I edited the track numbers once the CDs were imported through SS - as obviously they were numbered for 2 discs. So I changed the track numbers before transfer. Yes, I'll delete the discs from the player and start again even though it's not an issue as the albums play concurrently anyway - it's just I'd like to know how to do it next time. Also, when you insert a screenshot, is it a word.doc like mine? Can't figure out why the text isn't coming out even after clicking on the green icon
