Cant transfer files to NW-E99

Hi , Iv just bought a new pc with windows vista 32 and i am now having trouble transferring files to my player. I new i would have to format/Initialize the player and lose all my files by doing this, but now I can not add any new files to the player, it just keeps on saying "Transfers are not allowed". I am using sonicstage v4.3.01.14050. I have tried uninstaling and reinstaling sonicstage with no luck.

Any help please!

You should not have to re-initialize the E99. It's recognized as a memory stick, not Atrac Audio device. I've switched my E99 between different PCs and versions of Sonicstage, and I never have to reinitialize it.

even before i did it, i could not transfer any new files to it. Im not to bothered about the losing the files on it as i still have them on my hdd. So have i done any damage by reinitializing it? And could this be a vista problem?

What kind of files you're trying to transfer? Purchased Connect tracks or your own self-ripped MP3s? I don't have Vista, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has compatibility issues.

Just self ripped tracks, I need to test it on a other pc with xp and see if that vista is the problem.

Just tried to make a atrac cd to see if its the E99 or vista thats causing the problems and it looks like it is vista as it will not allow me to transfer files to a cd as well as my NW-E99.

Yes got adimin rights. Just tried it on a laptop running xp and it works fine, so its got to be vista? It says on the sonicstage web page that this version is vista compatable!

but I think it could be something to do with the tracks copyrights, as i have just ripped a cd ti sonicstage and it has transfered, im not sure why its not letting me add my music files from my hdd?

No, is that the only way to install the driver? Only I think that disk is in the loft and thats going to be an epic to find!

I did a Google search, and found a driver here. You could try and see if that works.

You should NOT have to install any additional drivers. The latest drivers are already included in Sonicstage.

OK, I think I can see the problem.

1. Make sure you install the latest Sonicstage (4.3 I think) in Vista

2. When ripping to Atrac, make sure you disable or uncheck the copy protection.

3. If you only want to transfer MP3s, you can always use the MP3 file manager instead of Sonicstage.

4. If you still have problems in the end, yeah, it's due to Vista. The blame should be on Sony for not making a 100% compatible software for the latest OS, but Vista has so many compatibility issues that it's not funny. Even Apple has problems with their iTunes in Vista. Another reason to stick with XP.

Hmm, that's strange. Maybe you're right. Also looks like the MP3 file manager is not compatible with Vista.

However, it seems the OP's device is detected okay. His only problem is in transferring the files.
