2 old 4 this
Hmm, Can anyone explain to me as to why the transfer times of AVI to Atrac files are sooo slow? A 50 minutes tv program has taken over 7 hours ( yes really) to transfer as an AVI file via Image converter 3 onto my Walkman( NW-A806).If this wasn't given to me as a gift I'd have sold it for something much better. Even a 5 minute music video took over 55 minutes. Pardon my language but its cr*p. What a complete waste of electricity.

It's a very intensive process. And i think it's not converting the avi into an "atrac" file, i think it's doing it into either a AVC or MPEG file...On my P4 2Ghz computer, to convert a DVD movie into a compatible format, i use nero recode and it takes almost half a day. I usually just set it up and go to work and school, and hopefully when i come back it'll be doneWhen you start converting stuff, you start to appreciate all those people that spend all that time producing all those files that can be found on torrents..... but that's a totally different story.. AntiPod
i have an S706 and it takes forever just to put in 1 gig of music, maybe it is the WM port. but 7 hours sounds pretty insane to me. O.o

Ascariss
make sure with music, the player isn't re encoding into atrac.indeed shame that it takes so long to convert, hopefully once more people use the walkmans, new codecs will be added using custom firmware.
