Sleeve Artwork Not Transferring/Showing

Hi Guys,

I am an ATRAC user from the MD days, i have a problem with SS 4.3 and the ATRAC albums i am transfering to my NW808.

Some albums won't transfer the artwork across to the device, some will not show on the device at all, some will but won't show in SS as being there (but you know they are as they show on the device).

I have re-formatted the device and transfered the problem albums first and they are then OK but i don't want to keep re-formatting the device every bloomin time!

I have seen this when i have little memory left but i have loads, about 1gb. It's driving me mad, any ideas?

Another thread posted somewhere on this forum (it is really hard to find stuff using this interface!) mentioned that the ID3 tags are of a version that SS doesn't tolerate. Using iTunes the author of this post provided steps on how to role back the version of the tag (to 2.3 if I recall correctly) and then cover art would show up in A80X devices.

I had the same problem with my A806. Tried the solution using iTunes. In order for me to get it to work I had change it version 2.0. Plus not all the MP3 files would have this option once imported into iTunes. I don't know what happens with the new video MP3 players that don't use SS. Anyone care to share their experiences?

How would that work with ATRAC files, i am not using MP3 files. Also, why would the album be ok if i format the unit and then transfer the album accross first? I have done a search, i am getting pretty fed up with the whole album artwork thing TBH. Bloody colour screens!

I believe the tags that carry that information only work on files that are in MP3 format. What format are your songs in before you convert to ATRAC? Are you importing into SS via CD? If so, are you also using Gracenote to grab the song information?

In cases where you are importing an MP3 file you change the tag using another program. The iTunes was one solution to roll back the version of the ID tag before bringing it into SS. I'm sure other programs will also do the same. But obviously the songs have to be in MP3 format.

Are you applying the cover art when you are in "import a CD" mode (one of the options across the top under "Music Source" where all the tracks are listed and ready to be imported into SS)? Or are you applying the cover art by dragging it while you are in "My Library" mode (again, option across the top) with "All tracks" showing (this option is found on the left hand side of the screen under "View")? The cover art will not appear in SS until you click on the song and begin playing it. It should then appear across the top in the section below the menu items "Music Source", "My Library" and "Transfer" (beside the play, stop, next track, last track buttons). This might be what's happending when you write that you can't see it in SS but it shows up on the device.
