Dear atraclife members,

I got a nw-hd3 player for a while now, I really loved the device untill recently :(.

I am not sure what the cause is, but i am sure there is a way to fix it and that someone of u guys can help me!

Here is how i'd describe the problem:

Whenever I try to start my nw-hd3 ( by pressing the play button ( or any other ) ).

I get the default walkman screen and a beep.

then after 2 secs it starts a beep beat "-- -- --".

and then it doesn't go any further it contineus with this beep and showing the welcome screen.

anyone has any solution or an idea what the cause might be?

yours sincerly,

Remco van Grinsven.

This sounds like the Hard Disc is in trouble. It's not the first time I have heard of this. You may find a suitable disc on ebay but from what I can remember there will be an issue getting the firmware on board.Sorry for the bad news.maybe someone else has a more innocent reason for this problem

I heard I should be able to recover some hard disk problems by getting the hard disk out my nw-hd3 put it in a sealed bag. and then for ceveral hours in de freezer? Is this true or gonna make things worse?

I heard that theory regarding computer batteries, and in fact, when my b/f's computer battery was only giving him less than an hour of life - we tried it! We wrapped it up and stuck it in the freezer overnight - and then allowed it to 'defrost' for 24 hours.

When we put it back in the computer - he got exactly the same amount of battery life as he had before the freezing!!

So it didn't work - but it was worth a try just in case!

putting a harddisk in the freezer is a temporary trick to make the drive work long enough to get valuable data off it. people do it all the time to a dying computer drive with data they don't want to lose. a busted drive is a busted drive. no way around it.

i've never heard of the battery in the freezer before. if anything, the cold will make it even worse as it increases the internal resistence of the lithium ion.
