Question

hey guys, so i just sold my s705 (pink, 2 gig) and got myself a A818 black. i have a question in transferring videos to it. i drag and dropped some...and one of two things happened:

1. a msg pops up on the computer saying that it is only using it for storage purpose and it cannot be replay.

2. it transferred no problem, but when i go to the video on A818, it saids no files on display.

can someone help me out? im gussing its the format...but if it is, can someone tell me step by step on how to get videos working on my player? thanks

I use psp video 9 to convert my vids to the correct format. I add the video, changet the settings to Fw1 50+ 320 x 280 768kbps stereo/128kbps.

then let it covert the video, it automatically makes a thumbnail. Using windows explorer, I copy and paste the vid and image into the video directory of the 818 and then disconnect it.

I have converted podcasts, avi's and wmv files and once converted them play. link to the software

I find this method easy and fast for me, never had any problems. I have yet to convert a full length movie though.

First I must say that I haven't been able to match the good picture quality I get from the supplied imageconverter program. However it is quite picky about the files it accept's. That's why I'm trying a viable solution with mencoder/ffmpeg.

So if you pu this bat file into mencoders folder. ( it should be one row)

mencoder.exe %1 -oac lavc -ovc lavc -of lavf -lavcopts aglobal=1:vglobal=1:vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=800:autoaspect:acodec=libfaac:abitrate=128 -lavfopts format=mp4 -ofps 29.97 -af lavcresample=24000 -vf scale=320:240,harddup -o %1.mp4

now you can drop a film on the bat file (or link to the bat file) and you will get a converted file in the source directory that you can drop into the video folder on the player. I have tried it with several files including two movies with no problems.
