Dear Friends,

I have just bought a Sony MZ-N1 Minidisk player / recorder. I have no idea how the main display on the unit is switched on. On the package, it is showed with the display turned on. I have read the manual but I cannot find the solution.

Thank you,

Lazaro W. Wolf

From what I've read, the "backlight" on the MZ-N1 promo literature is due to the "creative" use of studio lighting, like those pictures of cornflakes that never get soggy in the bowl and ice cream that never melts--in a word, nonexistent! It's a deceptive, but firmly established, tradition. :( On the positive side, think "increased battery life."

sorry to say but Gary is right... the sony photo's use 'creative' photography which shows the N1 main display to have a backlight... but as we all know.. thats not true.. the S1 is the only sony to have a backlit main window...

also... the MZR-900/909 photo also shows that the remote has a blue backlight.. but in real life its aqua... well.. due to creative photography again...

i also own a N1 but as the others hav said the N1 indeed does NOT hav a backlit display...onli the "illusion" of having 1...the picture that Sony has on the box shows a blue main display is basically due to a bluish refelctive plastic that covers the main LCD...if u look @ the screen from different angles then u would c it as a bit "blue"...otherwise it is just all "creative" photography from Sony...
