Guest Anonymous
Ok, MD is great. But it could be better if someone did the following: -Make a full size 10 MD carousel changer.I've measured it, and you could fit 10 MD's in a circle within a standard 17 inch wide body. Just think of all the hours of playing and recording you could do! Even if you don't like MDLP you could continously record onto 800 minutes of time, or 2 or 4 times that in MDLP. This would be ideal for satellite music recording, something I do a lot of. There would have to be some sort of memory buffer so you wouldn't lose music while switching discs. -Another feature we could use would be the ability to record onto MD's in MDLP mode, and then convert them into standard 80 mintue mode when you find the songs you want. This would maximize sound quality aswell as recording time. -Someone needs to invent a feature which lets you adjust the amount of space needed to title songs and discs. You can fit 1700 characters onto an MD. Let's face it: most people won't use that many characters, and if they don't, it's wasted. You should be able to defeat the titleing space on blank MD's to maximize recording time.If you do want to title, you should be able to use as many characters as you need and then use the remaining space to record music onto. -If I was an engineer I would make a machine that has a special plug you would attach to an MD label printer. Once you had titled your songs on your MD machine, you attach the printer, which spits out the titles of your songs onto an MD size label, and bingo! The printer would have various fonts and character sizes, and different song title layouts. -Somebody needs to invent a "random move" feature. This would rearrange the order of songs on your MD in random order. It would save you having to figure what order the songs should go in. Im with the quality of LP4 and that gives me 320M mins anyways and im not bothered carrying a few more minidiscs about. -Another feature we could use would be the ability to record onto MD's in MDLP mode, and then convert them into standard 80 mintue mode when you find the songs you want. This would maximize sound quality aswell as recording time. The quality wont get better anyways and prolly u will lose quality if it did convert format and plus it will take it time converting If I was an engineer I would make a machine that has a special plug you would attach to an MD label printer. EVHShawn
Check out the Minidisc accesories browser on minidisc.org, they have printers listed on there.
Shorty
If you want to print MD labels you should be able to get a program that will allow you to print the label onto a sticky label using your PC's printer, thus saving the expensive (and inconvenience) of purchasing and carrying around a portable printer. And, if your printer's any good, the quality would be better.

Why would you rearrange the songs in random order? This is not difficult to program, but I don't fully understand what the advantage would be. 1001_NiGHTs
why not just put the songs in any order you want any, then press random playing mode. simple for me I would definately like to see md play other formats. In my opinion it should be vorbis, it's free and sound much better that mp3 and wma. Hail to the fish baby! <--
