Mono LP2/LP4 possible?

to reconfirm what "me" said, the md player doesn't allow lp2 mono recordings while lp4 mono is impossible. while lp2 records in stereo, lp4 does not; it uses a different type of recording called joint-stereo. it takes the similarities between the left and right channels and rather than encoding them twice (once in each channel,) it just records them as one channel. In a way, it compresses the stereo imaging.

I'm interested in the comments about stereo recording in LP4 mode.

Where did this information come from. I'm listening to a MD recording made in LP4 and I'd swear it's true stereo!

Bazirker, from your description, I think it's a safe guess that LP4 uses Intensity Stereo rather than the more common Joint Stereo (which is a combination of Mid/Side Stereo and True Stereo as you call it (L/R Stereo).
