Foxfire
I got inspired by LI's discussion at NetMD about design on Sony MZ-N1 and MZ-N10: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=1077 What protable MD do you think has/had the best design? Non-depending on brand or whether it's a recorder or player. I thinks Sony and Aiwa has the best design team. Though, it seems that Sony makes more and more uglier MD's each time a new series comes out. Me myself thinks the Aiwa AM-NX1 and the Sony MZ-E90 have the best design. Aiwa AM-NX1 Sony MZ-E90 (pictures are taken from ' target='_blank'>http://www.minidisc.org/)
azt33
The best-looking player would be the E900 for me, and ofcourse the E10 The best-looking recorder would be the blue R910 and the N10
Foxfire
I think you're the kind of person Sony do their design for, 'cause you seesm to like their new design series =) I'm more retro (if that's the right term). I like the models around the MZ-E91: space and stylish. I don't hate the new designs of MD's, hell no! I just think the older ones was more good-looking. But hey, who am I to say?! I have the MZ-N505/S (economic issues)!
Mystyler
I'll say the Panasonic SJ-MR200 in white/orange, Aiwa AM-HX400 in red, Sony E700 in white/purple, and the Sharp MD-MT888/IM-MT899.
LI
Best Recent Designs: Sony MZ-N10, N1, E10 Aiwa AM-NX1 Best Older designs that stood out for me and got me into MD's was the Sony R-50...

Leon
Old Kenwoods are positively dazzling for me - DMC-G3, G5 for example. Used to be that they understood "cool" better than Sony. Beyond that... Sony E30, E50, R50 (all respectably uncluttered and conveys quality) Sharp DS8 (simple and clean) The N10 would be much better if Sony didn't have to "squeeze" out the 12.9mm thickness, so it won't have all those bulges underneath, and the top surface could also be different. This is probably one of the reasons Apple's designs are attractive - they don't work *that* hard trying to get their products to measure smaller. None of the Panasonics are as interesting as their best cassette portables IMO (I love the SX60, among others), so
Sugo
Sharp DS8 (simple and clean)I am so touched, finally somebody ...
Leon
Too bad "simple and clean" (the song) must've been written before the DS8 came out, LOL
Sugo
Ha, I think sharp really should ask Utada Hikaru to do a MD commercial for DS8, just like the panasonic one from Hamasaki Ayumi.
Leon
Yes they should... I'd like to propose a 2-page spread with Yuming and Hikki together (they share birthdays, their music have thematic commonalities IMO, and are relatively representative of their respective era, both in Toshiba EMI albeit under different management/labels) It's a good thing we're beyond the Da Pump/Kinki Kids phase for ads... or is that just low budget?

Guest Anonymous
I think MZ-R909 (RED) and N910( ALL THE COLORS) are the best looking
BerkY
VOTE 1 N910... Excellent design... I am just in love with it It is just so beautiful. So neat... So cool... So brilliant. And that sexy orange colour or the blue and even that clichéd silver... It just steals my vote. My 2 cents BerkY
BJ
How come nobody mentioned Sharp's MD-MS702 (in GREEN!)? It's the design I originally fell in love with, so it has that special place in my heart. Ick. How sappy. But this photo makes it look like a UFO, and that's cool, right? I'd also have to mention, dinky screen notwithstanding, Sony's MZ-N505--specifically the button layout, which always reminded me of a small solar system. Maybe Sony hasn't discovered Pluto yet. BerkY
I dont like too many buttons on my minidisc. Makes it look untidy. the jog dial on the new sony's are excellent. Very useful. Also the sharp in the picture looks cool but its just too big... I like my models slim Is slim is gooooooood
mAjEsTiC
yeh but there's a pretty big time difference between the MS702 and ur N910 unit...so it's expected that it will be bigger than the N910...
