cant figure out why auto sync isnt working

Hi i have recently got a Sony Mzr 909 recorder but the unit doesnt autosync when i record using an analouge cable. The uint doesnt put in track marks either so i just get a huge single track. ( I have turned the auto sync on in the menu )

The auto sync doesnt work with my optical out on my sound card ( hercules 7.1 ) At the moment im having to insert track marks manually :?

Auto Sync works from digital source only. You can try by playing around with the volume, and also base on my reading from other forums, optical out from

soundcard doesn't really work because of interference signal form matherboard.

if you make an analog recording and cut the sound for 3 seconds, does it make a trackmark when the music starts again?

That's the way it's supposed to work.

Electrical interference are from your power supply, and affects only analog recording (continious hissing) and doesn't affect optical signal :shock:

Thanks for your help. I have now been able to record using optical out and i get track marks My old Md unit a Sharp Md mt20 used to insert track marks on analouge recordings ( by adjusting the rec levels )
