Guest Anonymous
I just bought a MZ-N710 with netmd. To transfer mp3's to my md's is no problem. To play mp3's on my pc is no problem either. To play songs from the minidisc in the netmd interface seems to be ok - the scrollbars acts like playin' the song. but there is no sound at all ... how do i solve this ?? thx :?:
Guest Anonymous
Hi all, I'm having the same problem. I looked up the manual and followed all of it's instructions, i.e. cleaning the earphone sockets... Any help is greatly appreciated.
Guest Anonymous
It could be a dead headphone jack. In any case, it's something you'll need to send the unit in for repair for.

Guest Anonymous
I was having the same problem and I tried to change groups but it's not working. All the other songs play and the sound can be heard but this one song shows that it's playing but no sound is coming from it. It can't be a jack problem and it's not a speakers or headphones problem... and I can't understand what could be causing it or how to solve this problem. Any suggestions? BerkY
Ok first and foremost lets get this straight... You cant get any sound from the SPEAKERS when you PLAY the music from SonicStage. The MD will still play the disc but sound will ONLY come from the HEADPHONES. However, if there is no sound coming from the headphones either then there could be a problem. MP3s and other formats will play fine from the speakers from the SonicStage interface but when it comes to playing discs from the MD when the MD is connected to the computer I am afraid you have to put on the headphones. Cheers BerkY
mAjEsTiC
if that's the case that BerkY is describing there then i'd have to agree with him in that if you're using SonicStage to listen 2 music from your MD then it won't play sound through the speakers since the audio data isn't u/l from your MD -> PC so u need 2 listen to the song through the headphones...but if you've already transfered the file across to your MD and then (not connected to the PC via USB) listen to it on the unit and no sound comes out on that particular song (and all the rest of them do have sound), then it's an error in the file encoding...just use the LAME encoder to convert to .wav file and transfer it across again... Guest Anonymous
yeah, hey thanks for your replies. I was listening to it through OpenMG Jukebox. But then I tried to listen to it through Windows Media Player and it would play but no sound either. And I thought that was weird because it was playing through Winamp. So I figured it was a file type problem. A friend of mine suggested RazorLame program to change the bitrate from 256 to 192. It works fine now. I didn't realize that could be a problem. Thanks again! Guest Anonymous
Your friend's idea isn't the greatest.... It would be better to decode the MP3's to WAV's for NetMD transfer, and to keep the original MP3's for listening on Winamp. I say this because when you re-encode MP3's (or any other "lossy" format for that matter), the sound quality is compromised. This isn't only when you lower the bitrate. It happens even when you go to a higher bitrate or change from one format to another (e.g. MP3->WMA).
