doclloyd
What does everyone think of this new deck from Sony? Seems to have some good features, still offers 5 disc, but with CD/RW and MP3 abilities now, group mode and a digital optical out! This is nice for at least playback with the home theater setup, if you have the connections available (like I do). I doubt it allows for any digital recordings to other devices. Too bad they got rid of the keyboard input though. It's one of the best parts of my D5C. But having some of those other features would be nice (group mode, mp3). I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts/opinions on this. Who thinks it's a worthy upgrade from the D5C? Is it worth $300 (going price on Crutchfield)? http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MXD-D400.html
v1
that looks sweet! I *really* need an MD deck Compatible with RM-D20 QWERTY keyboard remoteIt is compatable with keyboard!
doclloyd
I just wish where I could actually get the remote keyboard.. Otherwise, if Sony decides to push this kind of device, I think it would take off, mainly for mp3 playing capability in a CD deck. Although, DVD players and other CD decks have been adding this capability for a while too.. I'd be curious to see how well it does.
krhainos
I just wish where I could actually get the remote keyboard.. Remote? Like in wireless? You could pick up a Logitech Wireless Keyboard for like $30 on eBay..

saaron
what is that exactly? The RM-D20 is some kind of wireless remote that Sony came out with that has titling features. You can find details about it on the Minidisc.org website in accessories, but you have to hunt a bit. The unit is _not_ compatible with any off-the-shelf keyboard for a PC, although in the past there were some high-end players sold that had PS/2 plugs in them that were. This thing appears to be not readily available outside of Japan and it's too small to type on properly -- I think if it was cheap it would be okay, but I expect not. 8
Yeah, this deck does look nice. This is the kind of MD equipment that should be pushed at electronic stores (i.e. Best Buy) in the U.S. Then, after awhile, the format can finally take off here, and I can do what I really want: use MiniDisc for ALL recordings. I can't do that because no one else here has it. (so it's strictly for radio, mixes & live recoding) Ah, to dream. Of course, I won't be interested in this deck, since I already have an AMAZING pro deck...which, of course, I keep a keyboard hooked up to for titling... heh heh heh....
