Guest Anonymous
I am considering getting a mzn-710, but it seems it has no line out, as the the mzn-910 and mzn-10 do. what does this mean? can i still hook it up to a stereo to play through the speakers, or use it in a car with a car adapter. thanks for any help. mAjEsTiC
yep u can hook it up to a stereo and play through the speakers and use it in the car with an adapter...not having a LINE OUT and using the HEADFONE OUT means that you are more suceptable to noise at higher volumes on the headfone output...it should be relatively fine to pass thru a signal from the MD to external speakers through headfone out instead of line out...tho if u can stretch the cash it's better off that you buy one with a LINE out...if u can't buy the N710 and hack it (check the NetMD part of this forum for more details)... sudden
From what I read, the hack only opens a soft line out. Meaning it raises volume to max and turns of eq. So in other words I can do that myself easy befor plug into a external amp. And this without the danger of hacking. I have a MZ-N707 and would never even try to hack it, the "extra fetures" are not worth the risk.
mAjEsTiC
so does that mean that the N10's and N910's (and other various models) combined Headfone/LINE OUT are also "soft" line outs???
KJ_Palmer
No, these are 'true' line outs, with dedicated circuitry to bypass the headphone amp. The hacked line outs go through the headphone circuits, but with volume at max and any bass/treble settings turned off.
mAjEsTiC
hmm...thought so...thanks for clearing this up tho...
KJ_Palmer
No problem. Even so, the hacked line out is useful. It sounds pretty good even on my old R500, and it's handy to be able to switch in a button press (or two), rather than fiddling with the volume etc 8) .
