Guest Anonymous
I was using my laptop to upload songs to a MiniDisc, and my laptop ran out of juice in the middle of the upload. Next thing I know, when I go to edit the songs that were transfered, the Sonic gives me an error and isn't able to erase the songs on the minidisc. Please help, how can I wipe the minidisc clean of files. Thanks.
mAjEsTiC
um did u try to erase the whole disc from the unit itself???
bertrik
I think I have a disc with the same problem. It happened after SonicStage crapped out. After disc insertion it simply says ERROR, although I can still see the names of two songs on the display. I tried the following (all without success) * erase disc on unit -> won't work because there is still a protected track present (downloaded by sonicstage) * erase individual tracks on unit -> ERROR * use XMD under Linux to erase disc -> XMD tells me there is no disc present * use service menu to overwrite random portions in order to make it look like a blank disc again -> no success so far. I'm considering the particular disc to be simply lost (was brand new).
bertrik
Here's a solution that worked for me, however you do need to use the service mode (which can be tricky for the first few times): http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t...r=asc&start=179 "Just found that it may be useful. In case your MD disc has its TOC messed up, or the disc can't be "All erased", try this: Go to service menu 518 (erase), set the value to 00 then press "pause", allow the machine to run up to after address 032. The TOC of the disc is now cleaned and become a fresh blank disc."
allofitsik
I have the same problem as this thread was started on, however i am using an MZ-N510 ... how do i enter service mode on that? is this th eonly way to clean a corrupt disc out? what if I, say, made a big electro-magnet and waved that over the md...? woudl that work ot just repolarize ALL the bits? thanks
Guest Anonymous
LOL... well, the magnet plan wouldn't work because the bits have to be heated by a laser for their polarity to be changed. Have you tried using a unit from the pre-NetMD era, or even pre-MDLP, to format the disc?
Guest Anonymous
i used my friend's pre net md recorder, and it deletes it, even though it says protect. anyway to enter service mode on the mzn-510, you must use the group key as a shift key, instead of using the volume down key.
