Guest Anonymous
Just looking at the service guide for the MZ-N707 (http://www.minidisc.org/manuals/sony/service/sony_MZ-N707_service_manual.pdf), the pin assignation table on page 52 lists two interesting entries: pin 191-193: D/A converter PWM signal output terminal - not used pin 194: Audio data output terminal - not used Does the "not used" mean that the function is not present, or simply that the output signal is present but not used by any subsequent process? Has anyone tried connecting either of these outputs to an external DAC?
steelydoubt
i think the md port has a chip in it that adds a header to the digital signal coming from another chip. i would try it but i dont have an md port.

thinkmd
the new sharp has actual digital output, but only on the charging cradle. although thay may have an adapter for digital output on the go.Steely, PLEASE, PLEASE post the appropriate model number(s) for the Sharp and/or cradle that you mention here. There are MANY folks (myself included) who would LOVE to do DIGITAL MD-->PC transfers. (This is, in fact why I got my MD in the first place!!) This very weekend, in fact, I am trying to pull together a transfer scenario that will work. I would LOVE to be able to take my N707 back for a refund and get the Sharp if I knew that the Sharp would do the trick for me. What did you mean when you said, they may have an adapter for digital output on the go? Do you mean that you'd be able (with said adapter) to do digital output (from the MD) without having to use the cradle? (Any word on the "unused data" pins mentioned here?) ** THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE, STEELY!!! **
