Hi there

I will be upgrading from my Sharp MD-MS722 in a few months. I have been looking on the main site and through the forums, and realise there is a lot of information to digest.

Can anyone summarise the main features (and advantages) of the top units (both Sharp and Sony)? I want NetMD. i.e.

Battery Life

Output Level (I believe Sharp has the best - 8mW)

Features (I like the "group" function, do they all have this?)

Jog-Dial?

thanks!

don't know about the sharp models, but i know about the sony's

N10

pretty good battery life. has an internal li-on, so u can recharge any time you want

very slim and very light.

US version has 5mW output

Has pretty much every feature u'll ever need

N910

Better battery life than the N10, but has gumstick, so it can be easily damaged

slightly larger than n10

US version has 5mW output.

same features as n10, plus some useless ones...

depending on ur budged take one of these...

the 910 is cheaper than the n10, but the n10 looks a lot better

i don't see how the gumstick can get damaged easier??? but even if it does it's cheap and easy to replace unlike the N10 (and plus i got a tonne of gumsticks lying around since all my other units use gumstick except for my N10 and E10 units...) but otherwise N10's battery life is my only complaint...i still prefer the N910 over the N10 for battery life and the weight isn't that much of a difference...ultimately the choice is urs and depending on what style you like u'll choose the right model....the new Sharp unit is really nice (info can be viewed here) though since i don't own one and it is very new I don't know much about the unit...but it looks like a very nice unit to get...

oh you're talking about the memory effect that plagues the NiMH batteries more than the Li-Ion batteries...well in that case yes it is slightly easier to damage the battery if your don't discharge it fully but that goes for Li-Ion batteries as well...in the long run you have to fully discharge and recharge the battery if you want to keep it in good shape...
