Guest Anonymous
Not sure what is wrong.... there is sound as I record (analog or digital) I don't use Sonicstage.....don't like it! but it seems to record fine, it plays the music as it records, places track markers etc. but when I try to play the track the disc just spins and can't seem to find anything! If i play older material which is on the disc, it's fine but if I remove the disc and re-insert it, the disc reads as blank! I have the recorder JUST over a year Has any body got any ideas? Is the recording head dirty (how do I clean it) or is it broke? Thanks
BerkY
I presume you record from your HiFi with the optical cable... I dont really think the head is dirty as it can READ and PLAY the disc as you said... There is something else wrong with it. I advise you to try to record from the computer with the USB cable AND SONICSTAGE. See if that works... If it doesnt then there is something wrong with the recording mechanism. You know it doesnt matter if it is one year old or one month old these days as most products are made in china, vietnam, indonesia and malaysia... Quality is just poor even if its a sony... Thats why I buy Sony's made in japan ONLY. I advise you to do same. You want proof? Here is proof... I have 4 sony products at home, and if i add my cassette walkman and MD walkman that makes it 6 Sony products. The VCR and the TV are made in Malaysia and have both been to the Sony Service center and back with repairs. My Mini Hifi, a Sony MHC-GR8 (good piece of equipment when i bought it in '98 ), has been to the service center twice!!! And this product is made in Indonesia. Now here is a fact: The other products that I have are ALL MADE IN JAPAN! I have a Midi HiFi which is 10 years old and all the parts are made in japan and its working great! Both walkmans are also made in japan and they are also working great. So I try not to buy a Sony that is not made in japan these days. As the repairman in the sony service center said, "there is a HUGE quality difference, and you get what you pay for" Such is life...
